Placecard of the Week: Leaves of Summer

Wow, what a beautiful weekend!  The sun was shining, flowers were in full bloom, and everywhere I looked I saw an abundance of green.  It might not “officially” be summer yet, but it certainly feels like it after seeing weather in the 90’s here in the Twin Cities this past weekend.  I almost break out in a mild sweat just thinking about it.  Okay, not really, but you get the point.

My husband (gosh, I love that guy) somehow convinced me to rollerblade 23 miles on Saturday in +90 degree midday heat.  It was zero fun, and I wanted to toss my cookies for the remainder of the day from the heat-nausea-induced ickyness, but at least we took in some beautiful scenery around the Minneapolis lakes.  Ever the optimist, I chose to tough it out and not complain, but the next morning when he woke me up and asked, “So, are you ready to go rollerblading again,” I think (I’m not entirely sure) that I may have actually growled at him and gave him the look.  You know that look!  We’ve all done it.  Needless to say, I stayed home and cleaned while he happily skated another 23 miles.  Show off!

In other news (since I’m already rambling), my hubby also surprised me with a new 15-inch MacBook Pro.  I really, honestly don’t deserve it, and I have no idea how I got such a sweet guy, but I am so thankful and completely thrilled to be working on this beauty.  Don’t worry, thrifty friends, he got a fairly good deal on it, and he had some funds in reserves for this little guy.  I am a huge Mac fan, which I’ve mentioned WAY too many times here.  Anyhoo, my old Mac notebook is going to the hubby for photo editing (it needs way too many expensive updates to do much of anything else), so I guess it’s a win-win for both of us.

And now, finally, I give you my Placecard of the Week: Leaves of Summer.  These placecards were inspired by the beautiful outdoors.  I think inspiration can be found anywhere, but there’s something so simple and refreshing about all of the green of summer.  These placecards are a little more elaborate and take a little extra time to make, so I might use something like these cards for food labels on a party table.  What do you think?

Have a wonderful day, gang!
